“The Fort” is episode five of season one of La Brea.
Eve, Levi and the others are entering the fort they discovered in the previous episode, “The New Arrival”, from which a signal had been detected. The place looks empty and they split up to search it.
Back at the camp, they can’t find the old man Lily finally admitted she saw. Ty, Sam and Marybeth think Lily didn’t tell them everything. Ty says that normally he earns the trust with children, through games. Sa, found enough gear to outfit a softball team.
At the fort, Eve recognises a handprint on what looks like a temple. Inside, there’s a dead man who is clearly not from around those parts and looks to have died the same way as Eddie. Levi recognises the dead man; he’s in a photo he was given. He explains to Eve that he was also sent to find this man and seven other people. An advance team sent down into a sinkhole that opened in the Mojave Desert three years ago. The dead man’s walkie-talkie is what Levi’s plane picked up.
Dr Rebecca Aldridge wants Gavin to fly the plane she has into the sinkhole. Tonight. Nathan will head back to LA to shut off the radar and deal with Markham. Aldridge explains that one of the people who went into Mojave sinkhole was Diana. Her fiancée.
Eve and Levi are trying to find the others at the fort and head up a lookout post. Josh has found an underground area and he and Riley enter. And end up outside the fort. And the door closes behind them.
Lucas and Scott have found an armoury. Then Lucas is attacked by someone who does not look local, then another knocks him out and tells Scott not to move. In English.
Ty gets Lily to play softball and Rebecca explains that their father was a good, God-fearing man who didn’t trust the outside world and told them to stay away from everyone else. Rebecca also says that Lily didn’t tell her anything else about the man.
Eve and Levi see Josh and Riley outside the fort. Then they see a party of people approaching the fort. Josh and Riley run, and Levi and Eve have to run back inside the fort.
Scott and Lucas have been tied up inside the temple. Scott no longer knows what’s going on, as they were attacked by two white guys speaking English.
Eve and Levi hide from the intruders in a building with four kids. Josh and Riley are hiding outside the fort and those pursuing are called back.
There were only eight people lost in the Mojave sinkhole, but there seem to be a lot more people back in the past who know English. Something is clearly going on.
