“The Alpha and the Omega” is episode ten of season two of Krypton.
The episode opens with General Zod ordering his fleet jump. To begin the conquest of Earth.
It then goes back 12 hours. Bits of Wegthor, which was destroyed in the previous episode, “Blood Moon”, are raining down on Kandor and being stopped by the shield. That’s one impressive shield. Lis-Ser tells Zod the people are afraid and want answers. He wants to know if there’s still enough fuel for his interstellar fleet. Then Val contacts Zod. No more threats; they are coming for him. Weaponising Doomsday proved what Zod is. He will never be Krypton’s saviour, for he’s already proved to be undoing. Zod makes more threats. Val is not impressed.
Adam wound up partially paralysed saving Val and Nyssa reassures him that Val won’t rest until he is able to walk again. Adam says that, once, he would have used the zeta beam device to undo this. Nyssa says he still could. No; there are always consequences. Nyssa asks about the device and Adam explains he got it from an inventor, Sardath of Rann. Rann is the zeta beam’s default destination, and Adam got to know the planet well. And Sardath’s daughter. Nyssa suggests asking Sardath for help. No; Sardath forbade it be used for time travel. Adam modded it so it could be.
Dev and Jayna are drinking. They think the others may be dead and Dev says they have to overthrow General Zod. There’s no-one else. They start kissing, but stop when the door goes and Lyta enters. She just woke up and saw meteorites falling and asks what happened.
Seg is piloting his skimmer through bits of Wegthor. He manages tom contact Val and arranges to meet them in the Outlands. And explains about Kem.
Adam wakes up from the sedatives he was given and sees Nyssa with the zeta beam device. He calls for Val. Nyssa was pumping Adam for information about the device. She’s going to find Brainiac and recover her son. You almost feel sorry for Brainiac.
Lyta has been filled in on what happened. She says the same as Dev; Zod needs ending. If what Jayna told her is true, Zod is not her son. Both are in. Lyta wants to do a frontal assault, which Zod would never believe they would do. Because, as Dev points out, they can’t. However, the Sagitari, thanks to Sagitari Thur and Pline, are wavering in their support of Zod. They will draw Zod out. Dev says the only way to draw Zod out is with an army and how can they fake one. Jayna has seen Val, Seg and the others arriving, and says they don’t need to worry about that.
Commander Dahl tells Zod that the rebel ship has been found abandoned. Zod is questioning Thur, and promises him his life if he speaks. Thur speaks. Zod lied. Dahl does not look impressed by that.
The others are remembering Kem and talking about Doomsday. Seg asks where Nyssa is. Nyssa has found some smoking corpses, and a burned man who stays alive just long enough to point at the sky.
Zod now knows about the Sagitari that have turned against him. Which means the rebels have just lost a big advantage. And his forces are coming for them.
Unfortunately, the series was cancelled after this, and, though there isn’t a cliff-hanger for the main plot, several threads are still left unresolved.
