“Episode #3.6” is episode six of season three of Humans.
In the previous episode, “#3.5”, the Dryden Commission had introduced a fine for attacking Synths. Max had decided to re-open the Railyard’s gates as a result. Something that Anatole really disagreed with, and resulted in him showing a new side. Anatole released Agnes from the cupboard which Max had locked her in in “#3.4” and had been in contact with Laura’s orange-eye, Stanley. Anatole ordered Stanley to kill everyone. Which is odd to say the least. Anatole had stopped Agnes from attacking the Dryden Commission when they visited, yet is willing to conspire to kill the Commission at another time – and is capable of controlling orange-eyes to do so. Anatole has a definite hidden connection.
At her university, Mattie had made a new friend, or, rather, the new woman had made herself into Mattie’s friend. Something definitely seemed up, and it is. Said new friend would appear to be a journalist, and she’s matched Mattie’s code to that which Mattie used to prove Vijay wasn’t behind Day Zero. It doesn’t look like the reporter has realised that Mattie was the one responsible yet, though. But she has seen a picture of Mattie with Leo.
The episode begins with Laura narrating (she’s actually typing and reading what she writes). Agnes is collecting a couple of bombs, Anatole is praying at his shrine to David Elster and Niska is sitting in a cafe, seeing things. She opens her eyes and leaves, then sees a sign change outside a bar into a symbol, so she enters.
At home, Stanley is cleaning the bathroom and Mattie wants to use it. Stanley gives her a long, involved speech about measuring the health of secondary users, detecting hormones in urine and so on. Mattie is not awake enough to grasp what Stanley is obviously telling her until he comes right out and says it – she’s 8-10 days pregnant.
Laura is dressing to go to the Dryden Commission and Sophie says she looks like a woman they learned about at school. Margaret Thatcher. Laura decides she needs to change into something different.
Niska is in the bar, and there’s another customer with the symbol. He says he can take her to the Synth who sleeps; that he found the Synth locked up in a research facility. That not only does the Synth sleep – he also dreams. The man can take Niska to see him, for a price, along with some others.
Leo has been having memories come back to him, so he and Mattie are heading back to his home. Or, as it is now known, the Elster House and Museum. It must be weird having the place you grew up in turned into a national monument to your father. Leo wants to find the notebook he now remembers David Elster writing in. Unseen by them, they are followed to the museum.
Laura is attacked outside her home by some humans, but Stanley defends her. Rather effectively in fact, and with seeming passion. Effectively enough that Laura becomes suspicious. It turns out that Stanley is actually a green-eye, and that his orange eyes were removed from the Synth who was sent to Laura. Something bad is planned at the Dryden Commission, when Mia is supposed to speak to them. At the Railyard, Max discovers that Anatole has freed Agnes.
Things start looking very bad, before they pick up for a bit. Then they look to have taken a turn for the seriously bad. There might be a speck of hope, but it’s tiny.
