“Episode #3.3” is episode three of season three of Humans.
In the previous episode Max had closed the gates of the Railyard, after first sending Leo and Mattie away. The Synths who had survived crossing the Channel, and who had then been rescued by Mia and Niska, arrive at the gates, wanting to come in. Neither Mia nor Niska are with them, though, as they have gone their separate ways. So, without anyone to vouch for them, Max refuses the Synths entry. For he cannot trust that they are not involved in the bombing. Agnes is really not happy about this.
Leo and Mattie, meanwhile, turn up on Laura’s doorstep. Leo is conscious again, but it seems that the Synth part of him is dead (and how is he still alive in that case? Anatole was right to be confused). So he is only human and his memories are fading. Leo also has no real experience of life. Laura is also not totally happy to have Leo there, but Mattie says he has no-one else.
Mia has a plan, and one that seems more than a little dangerous to her. Her first step is to go out in public as a Synth – and rent a flat. Laura, once the police get involved and she finds out about this plan, helps. So Mia now has her own place. Surrounded by lots of humans who would like to tear her apart. Mia wants to show that humans and Synths can live together in peace, but she really needs at least some humans to cooperate with this.
Laura is going to dinner with Neil, the scientist from the Dryden Commission. Thanks to Stanley, Laura knew that Neil was lying when he said he didn’t know anything about Basewood. Whatever that is. The Dryden Commission also appears to have already made up its mind. Laura looks to be the only pro-Synth member, and even Neil is at best disinterested.
Niska goes to the address that the rescued Synths gave her, the one that is apparently connected to those who carried out the bombing in the first episode. The location proves to a house that has what appears to be a bomb making factory in it. Things get a little strange, and it’s not clear what is going on with this.
In Waltrincham, Sam gets a contact lens knocked out when another boy pushes past him. So Karen takes him into Joe’s shop so that she can change it. Joe has obviously decided not to turn them in and, in fact, gets a bit more involved with the pair.
New relationships appear to be forming, some that could be seen coming and others perhaps not. In the Railyard, Max appears to be losing the support of at least a portion of the other Synths, and has himself lost faith. Anatole does have faith, of perhaps a religious level, and attempts to help. Laura comes up with an idea to help the Synths on the Dryden Commission.
