“Episode #1.2” is episode two of season one of Humans.
In the previous episode, “#1.1”, it was revealed that there were a group of Synths that had true AI, or at least very close to it. These Synths are led by Leo, who seems to be human, and are being hunted by a group that wants to examine them. One has been captured; several others taken and resold, one of them being Anita.
Laura is regarding Anita with suspicion. This is justified – Anita is not a normal Synth – but this justification isn’t obvious, as Laura is prejudiced against Synths anyway.
George Millican, who was one of the original Synth designers, has hidden his old, malfunctioning Synth and has been assigned a new one by the NHS. When he calls this new Synth a jailer, not a carer, he’s not far wrong. Any behaviour of his that isn’t judged medically acceptable will be reported, and the Synth will enforce this.
Oddities are revealed about Leo and one of the resold Synths shows that she has some all-too-human capabilities.
