Humans – Episode #1.1

“Episode #1.1” is episode one of season one of Humans.

In a parallel present, extremely lifelike androids known as “Synths” have been developed, and hundreds of millions of them are now fulfilling many roles worldwide. These Synths aren’t sentient, or AI, and are just not quite human enough to be slightly creepy.

One family acquire a new Synth, which they name Anita. The mother isn’t too happy about this, as she also seems to find the Synths slightly creepy. Five weeks prior to this, this same Synth – which had been sold as new – was one of a group who were running away from something, and who was then captured.

George Millican owns another Synth, a very old one, which is suffering some problems. He doesn’t want to get rid of his current Synth, for reasons that as yet aren’t fully explained, and seems very attached to it.

The Synths may not be supposed to be AI, but a group of them – Anita amongst them – seem to be rather superior, and may well be true AI.
