“Inner (Para) Demons” is episode eight of season two of Harley Quinn.
Commissioner Gordon is back in control of GCPD, having taken it from Two-Face in the previous episode, “There’s No Place to Go but Down”, and calls the president. After dealing with the secretary, Gordon takes credit for taking out the Injustice League and says Gotham is ready to re-join the United States. The president says there’s one supervillain left. Harley Quinn. Gordon, graphically, describes how he doesn’t think Harley is a problem. The president says she’s a menace. Take her down, and Gotham is back on the map.
Harley and Ivy are awkward, thanks to their kiss. They talk about it, how Harley says it was just one crazy moment and Ivy needs to focus on her marriage. They’re glad they talked about it, so as not to mess up their friendship. It was not a convincing talk. Harley asks Ivy if she’s going to tell Kite Man.
It looks like she does and he’s taking it badly. Except Ivy has actually forgotten to make reservations for their meeting with his parents. Ivy promises to blow them away.
Harley is wondering what to do next. King Shark thought they’d chill out and have fun. Harley wants to become the most feared supervillain. King Shark and Clayface do not think that’s her. Psycho is willing to go for it. Batgirl then arrives and, once she can get the conversation back on topic, tells Harley that Gordon is coming for her, because he thinks she’s a villain and Batgirl does not. Harley takes offence. Batgirl points out the things Harley has done that are heroic. King Shark and Clayface agree. Harley takes it to mean she needs an evil army to take on Gordon. Not what Batgirl meant. Psycho knows where she can get one.
Kite Man’s parents have already got a table. But not the one they wanted. Ivy clears them a booth. Kite Man’s mother likes that.
At the Iceberg Lounge Psycho explains a, rather complicated, plan to get an army from Darkseid. King Shark thinks it has many holes in it. As Psycho is planning how to steal the device they need, Harley goes and gets it, creating an interdimensional portal.
Ivy is going down well with Kite Man’s parents. They want grandchildren with superpowers. Like them. They were so disappointed Charles was powerless.
Gordon is arming up and Batgirl tells him that Harley is getting an army. Thousands might die. He might die. Gordon understands what she means. He needs an army too. Again, not what Batgirl meant.
Ivy is going down well with Kite Man’s parents. She’s rather less impressed with them. Harley is getting an army, as is Gordon. The whole reason Harley is doing this is to prove she does impetuous things. Like kiss people. Overall, possibly an overreaction and that talk at the beginning should perhaps have been more helpful.
