“Catwoman” is episode three of season two of Harley Quinn.
Harley and her crew are trying, and failing, to get through the ice into Mr Freeze’s territory. Psycho asks why they don’t just leave him be. Because, in “New Gotham”, Freeze froze Harley and put her on display. She won’t rest until she’s buried all of the Injustice League. Ivy notices a paper saying toxic waste is being dumped in the harbour and deuces she has to do something about it. To be told that happened two weeks ago.
Harley still can’t get through and two goons start talking, accidentally revealing that Firefly’s flamethrower will melt the ice. And accidentally revealing that Doctor Trap looted all the villains’ lairs when the city fell, collecting the flamethrower as well and putting everything on display in the museum.
Kite Man ferries Harley and Ivy to the museum. Afterwards, Harley tells Ivy she can do better. Ivy points out that Harley’s ex tried to kill her. Several times. Inside, Ivy pulls Harley out of the way of spikes. They tell Doctor Trap they don’t want trouble, just the flamethrower. And Harley wants Penguin’s umbrella; it’s become more valuable since she killed him. It’s protected by spears. And more spears. And flames. They decide to rethink this.
In the mall, the Riddler, captured in the previous episode, “Riddler U”, is taunting Psycho from his hamster wheel, telling Psycho he can’t control Riddler’s mind. Riddler is an A-lister and too smart. Psycho reacts badly and throws stuff at Riddler. Riddler is finding this entertaining. He’s clearly deliberately taunting Psycho and this is likely to go badly.
Harley and Ivy are heading to Chez Feline. Harley called the best burglar in the city. Yes, it’s Catwoman. Ivy doesn’t seem so thrilled. Harley points out that Catwoman and Ivy did that Amazon thing. Which didn’t go so well from Ivy’s point of view. Ivy wants to leave, because Catwoman is so together you end up agreeing with her. And starts gushing when Catwoman arrives. Harley is now having doubts.
Ivy and Harley are waiting for Catwoman on the museum’s roof with Kite Man. Catwoman arrives. She will handle the traps; they can follow her. At a distance; she’s not used to working with others. Kite Man is going to bail. He’s afraid of traps. And space. Once Ivy and Catwoman are inside, Kite Man takes Harley aside. He is coming in. Yes, he’s afraid of traps, but there’s a leaf-shaped diamond ring that would be perfect as an engagement ring. When they get inside, the other two aren’t there.
Catwoman talks to Ivy about Ivy’s current life choices and working with others and how she used to hate everybody. Just most people, now, according to Ivy. And what does she want the flamethrower for? Well, to help Harley take revenge on Mr Freeze. Ivy ends up doubting her own life choices, whilst Harley ends up deciding that perhaps Kite Man isn’t so bad after all.
