“Death in Heaven” is episode twelve of season eight of the new Doctor Who and the second part of the season finale.
In the previous episode, “Dark Water”, Missy had been revealed as being short for Mistress – the Master has become a woman. The dead that 3W were preserving had actually been turned into Cybermen.
At the beginning of the episode, in order to stop a Cyberman killing her, Clara had told them that Clara Oswald was an invention – that she was actually the Doctor. Which would be an interesting twist, if true.
The Mistress (Master?) is now going to stage a cyber version of the zombie apocalypse. Cyberzombocalypse? Zomcyberpocalypse?
Kate and UNIT turn up to help, but it seems the Mistress has been planning some things for a long, long time. And now the Cybermen can fly. Just like the Daleks can. Well, not just like – they look rather more like Iron Man.
This is probably the most bonkers, over-the-top portrayal of the Master ever – and that’s not an easy feat.
Although some things look to be over, I’m not so sure. Based on colours.
There’s also a mid-credit scene.
A largely hit or miss episode that wasn’t what it could have been.
