“Do Not Resuscitate” is episode six of season two of Batwoman.
A doctor is performing an experiment in front of a camera. There’s a boy who had leukaemia who was bitten by a bat in “Prior Criminal History”, then treated with the serum. His cancer was cured. The doctor is trying to use his blood to treat an elderly man with a similar cancer. He ends up vomiting blood.
The doctor tells her boss that they have none of the cure left, and can’t synthesise it. He wants it finding. No, he doesn’t expect that whoever has a cure that will cure anything will simply hand it over. He expects them to cherish it like it was the most valuable thing in the world. The second doctor, Rogers, then goes to see a patient, Aaron Hellzinger. Aaron wants to know if there’s a fix. No. Aaron goes wild and has to be sedated. Rogers tells him there is a cure, though, and Aaron will help Rogers get it.
Ryan is fighting criminals and gets hit by pain from her Kryptonite wound. Luke detects it but Ryan says it’s nothing. Angelique convinces Ryan to go to a hospital, convinces a doctor to help – Ryan says the wound came from a spider bite – and offers to pay for the blood test. Ryan wants Angelique to get out of the drug dealing life. Angelique says it’s not that easy.
Alice is with Ocean; he says he didn’t send the note that is supposedly from Safiyah. And doesn’t believe she does, either, or would be making another fumbling attempt at killing him. He’s a botanist and has better things to do than pick a fight with a warlord. Which sounds like a lot of work. A full-time job, according to Alice. Ocean doesn’t want to be involved. Alice reminds him about the lost memories. Ocean grows psychedelic mushrooms for a living; not the first memories he’s lost. Alice tells him Safiyah will send more killers. Ocean explains he got bored, tried to leave – and tried to take a Desert Rose with him. He got caught. Alice thinks they got caught together and only the memories of them together were erased.
Mary and Kane have just been to see a lawyer; Mary is going on one because they wanted to declare Kate dead. Sophie rings; the Napier they recovered in the previous episode, “Gore on Canvas”, is a fake. There’s a link to the forger, though. Ocean. The same person Alice is after. Sophie wants permission to use something. It’s granted. After the call, Kane’s car is rammed and Aaron drags them out of the wreck.
Sophie heads to see Ryan; she has a case against Angelique. But she doesn’t want her; she wants the person growing the mushrooms used in Snake Bite. Ocean. Ryan may not know where Ocean is, but Sophie believes Angelique does. She wants Ryan to install an app on Angelique’s phone. Ryan doesn’t want to, but agrees to make the case go away.
Kane and Mary come around in Mary’s clinic. Aaron says first hostage. Mary replies unfortunately, no. Aaron meant himself. He has spontaneous rage issues and needs the drug that came from this lab. Mary says there’s none left. She tells the story about Alice and the transfusion and how the drug loses its potency on the second generation. She ends up admitting to Kane this is her clinic.
Ryan has got Angelique a job at the Hold Up so she can get out of the life. Problem is, Angelique doesn’t want to get out. They’re arguing when Ryan fakes another bout of pain. Whilst Angelique is getting the pills, Ryan puts the app on her phone.
Ryan’s wound is very definitely getting worse; it’s apparently radioactive. She got bitten by a radioactive spider. That’s never happened before. Alice and Ocean try to work out what their relationship was. Various people find out various secrets.
