“Lost Planet of the Gods: Part 2” is episode five of season one of the classic series of Battlestar Galactica.
In the previous episode, “Lost Planet of the Gods: Part 1”, Commander Adama ordered the fleet to head into the void. On the bridge, Tigh is telling him that the fleet is starting to panic; Adama says the ships need to maintain visual contact. Apollo and Starbuck head to see Boomer, who is in a cryo tube but awake.
Tigh tells Adama that the void could be endless. Adama quotes from the Book of the Word about how a great star guided the Lords of Kobol from a dying planet into an endless black sea.
The female pilots are excited over their mission; Apollo and Starbuck start talking about something else. Serina asks if they feel left out.
On the bridge, Tigh tells Adama that something keeps on blipping in and out of view behind them. They need to check to see if it’s Cylons. It is; they’ve been sent to capture a pilot.
Tigh is being followed by Starbuck, Apollo and Serina. Serina says she’s Apollo’s wingman; orders have been posted. Tigh tells them to go to the launch bay as coordinates have been programmed. Except Starbuck heads there first and takes Apollo’s Viper.
Apollo and Serina launch as well and he tries ordering her back. She refuses. Starbuck can’t go any further without losing his fix on Galactica, so suggests he fixers on Apollo who will fix on Galactica. And Serina suggests Apollo fix on her.
Starbuck exits the void to find lots of Cylon Raiders. The others lose co0ntact with him. Starbuck is taken to the base star, where Baltar is. Baltar claims he’s a victim too, but there’s been a change in Cylon leadership that’s favourable to humans. They have an offer of peace. Starbuck suggests he leaves with the good news. He’s taken away for now. Lucifer doesn’t think the humans will trust Baltar and the Cylons again. Baltar does.
On Galactica, Serina joins Apollo. They both think Starbuck was killed, so she suggests they get married now. They do, and during the ceremony a star appears in the void. Adama orders a search for a planet around the star. Kobol. This is discovered and the fleet heads there.
Starbuck is of course not dead and Kobol may hold the key to finding Earth.
