“Gun on Ice Planet Zero: Part II” is episode nine of season one of the classic series of Battlestar Galactica.
In the previous episode, “Gun on Ice Planet Zero”, the expedition to destroy the pulsar was brought down. They are now heading in, shown the way by some clones who were created as slave labour, to the clones’ village. Ser 5-9 says the Father-Creator can help them get up the mountain.
Baltar asks Lucifer if the probe to the planet’s surface has been destroyed. Not exactly. And their fighters are close to the point of no return, still some distance from Galactica. Baltar orders they attack. Lucifer tells him they won’t return. Baltar says with the probe on the planet’s surface they have no choice. Galactica must be pushed forward. He’d order the same if the pilots were human.
Centurions are searching the clones’ village. Those from Galactica will be hidden with the children; the clones were thought to be sterile, but bore children which they are hiding.
Apollo is taken by Ser 5-9 to see Dr Ravashol. Ravashol says Apollo isn’t one of his. Apollo says he’s human, from the Galactica. Ravashol has no use for a vessel of war or violence of any kind. The pulsar is a transmission system. Apollo tells him its manned by Cylon gunners as a weapon of war. Ravashol claims this is a temporary abuse, one he has no control over or responsibility for. Cylons want to enter Ravashol’s lab and he tells Ser 5-9 to hide Apollo. The Centurions enter and Ravashol contacts the command Centurion, who halts the search.
Apollo tells Ravashol the Cylons will kill him. He says they won’t; they understand his work. Everything is in its proper place. He’s told the workers are breeding.
Cylon Raiders approach the fleet and Raiders are launched. Baltar asks if they’ve engaged. When they have, he orders the attack broken off so Adama thinks they are even closer than they are.
Ravashol, now convinced, is telling Apollo a possible way of destroying the pulsar. Thane has slipped away from the others, but he’s found by Centurions. Tenna tells Starbuck, who goes looking, and admits he’s looking for Cree as well.
The fleet is being forced towards the pulsar, which they can’t withstand, by Cylon base ships, which they can’t fight. And the mission to destroy the pulsar has several people on it who are at best very reluctant to participate.
