“Downloaded” is episode eighteen of season two of the new Battlestar Galactica.
Nine months ago on Caprica. Number Six is telling Gaius she can’t die; her consciousness is transferred to a new body when this one is destroyed. She shelters his blast from the shockwave from the nuclear explosion.
Number Six wakes in a new body in a bath of some sort of gel and is told she died. There are Cylons in the Number Six, Boomer and D’Anna Biers models around her. Number Six asks if Gaius is alive and Gaius tells her to shush. Which gives the impression that he’s a Cylon until he tells Number Six he’s not actually there. No-one else can see him. Similar to what’s happening with the real Gaius, but reversed. Number Six is asked if it’s a problem if Gaius is dead and Gaius warns her not to tell the truth. So she says it’s unfortunate if he died as he was so helpful. The D’Anna says very; the attack succeeded beyond their most optimistic expectations, thanks to Number Six.
The weeks later on Galactica and Cally shoots Boomer in “Resistance”. Boomer wakes up in a new body too, though she’s restrained. And doesn’t react well to seeing another version of her.
The present, on Caprica, and Number Six is watching Centurions restoring a park whilst Gaius comments on the number of people who died there. D’Anna interrupts to see how Number Six is doing, reassuring her about her new body and saying she’s a war hero. A Doral tells Number Six it’s an honour to have her on Caprica. Number Six looks uncomfortable.
Walking, D’Anna is telling Number Six she’s a celebrity. Everyone calls her Caprica Six, like she’s the only Six on the planet. D’Anna is congratulating Number Six on what she did whilst Gaius is making sarcastic comments. D’Anna says she needs Number Six’s help. Another Cylon is having difficulty integrating. An Eight who is still calling herself Sharon. Number Six is encouraged by D’Anna to help. If she doesn’t, they may have to box the Eight. Put her into storage. Gaius makes more sarcastic comments. They’re being watched as this is discussed, by Anders and another from the resistance. They plan to target the cafe.
Number Six arrives at Boomers. She isn’t making much headway when Gaius tells her to start with the elephants. And when she mentions God, not to get too religious. Boomer has a photo of Galactica‘s crew. They were her family and she betrayed them. Because she’s a lying machine. She smashes the photo against the wall and Number Six is cut by the glass. Only she wasn’t; she scratched herself. Gaius congratulates her on timing it perfectly. She’s good. But he’s better. Let him help. He gets Six to says she’s different. More like Boomer. She had a man she met. She loved him.
Anders and two others are discussing their attack. As for not being able to kill the Cylons, Anders says that the Boomer who was with Starbuck told them that the Cylons remember everything, right up until they die. Let them remember being blown into tiny pieces.
Six is reminiscing about Gaius’s house and going back to it to Boomer. Only according to Gaius this is a pack of lies. She mentions Gaius’s name and says maybe Boomer has heard of him. She has. He’s on Galactica and is the vice president of the Colonies. Six is shaken. D’Anna had to know Boomer would tell Six this, so why did she encourage them to meet? Six and Boomer decide they’re both being manipulated.
On Galactica, and that Boomer is giving birth. Helo reassures her that everything is alright. Dr Cottle says it’s not. And you’d think the Cylons would have upgraded the plumbing when making humans. The baby has to come out now or both she and Boomer will die. The baby is alive, but premature. Cottle tells Helo to leave.
President Roslin is discussing the baby with Gaius, Tigh and Adama. Gaius reminds her the baby is half human. Adama says if the baby is good for the Cylons it’s bad for them. Roslin would be willing to kill it, if needed, but seems to prefer another option.
On Caprica, Number Six is becoming more pro-human, thanks to her Gaius, whilst Gaius is becoming more pro-Cylon, thanks to his Number Six.
