“Deadlock” is episode sixteen of season four of the new Battlestar Galactica.
The admiral is checking on the Cylon repairs that Chief Tyrol is doing on Galactica, Adama having given the go ahead in the previous episode, “No Exit”. Though Tyrol doesn’t know if they will work. There’s trouble in Dogsville over food and Caprica Six is attacked. It doesn’t go well for her attackers. In sickbay, Cottle checks on her baby.
In CIC, a Raptor is detected, one logged as lost over a year ago. Starbuck takes a patrol of Vipers and a Cylon Heavy Raider out. The transmissions are garbled, but the Six on the Raider says it’s an Eight, and Starbuck reports that in. The Raptor is brought in and Ellen Tigh gets out. Tyrol recognises the Eight as being Boomer; Adama orders she be taken to the brig. Tigh is happy to see Ellen.
Ellen tells Adama, Apollo, Roslin and Tigh that Cavill wants her and Tigh to rebuild resurrection for him. She thinks Cavill is unbalanced. She wants to see the others; imagine if, instead of 50,000 survivors, there were only five. Tigh tells Ellen he doesn’t remember much of his former life and she’s told Anders is in a bad way. Ellen still wants to see them all. When everyone but Tigh leaves, she and him get rapidly intimate. In Tigh’s quarters, Caprica Six feels pain in her stomach.
Gaius has returned to his followers. Most are happy to see him; Paula, less so. Six tells Gaius that the sheep have a new shepherd now.
Ellen knows that Tigh has been seeing someone else; she understands, as he thought she was dead, after all. Tigh admits it’s Caprica Six. He fails to mention the pregnancy.
Ellen joins Tigh, Tyrol, Tory, a Six and an Eight around Anders’ bed in sickbay. The Six and Eight want the Five to come with them to the base ship and jump away. Ellen says Hera is the hope for a new blended future. Tory tells her about Caprica Six’s pure Cylon baby. Ellen is annoyed. Probably at least partially by how she found out.
Tigh doesn’t want to leave the fleet; the fleet needs them and the last thing Anders said was to stay with it. They have a vote, majority rule, something apparently instituted by the Five. Two to stay, two to go and Ellen hasn’t decided yet.
It seems that Ellen’s behaviour before she rediscovered she ‘s a Cylon was still pretty true to her. Which means she’s causing trouble again. Gaius seems to be trying to take power back from Paula; whether for his own benefit or the benefit of others is hard to tell with him sometimes.
