“Revelations” is episode two of season two of Babylon 5.
Londo is complaining to the Babylon 5 Advisory Council about it being held hostage by its missing members. Delenn is indisposed (she’s still in a cocoon) and Lennier is filling in for her. G’Kar is still missing, and Na’Toth is filling in for him. Londo wants to reprimand both governments and get them to send new representatives, so raises a motion for this. Of the other four on the council, two represent the governments that Londo wants to reprimand, Ambassador Kosh, attending for once, says nothing (which is no surprise; him attending is more of a surprise) and Sheridan isn’t really going to agree with this.
With the motion failing to gain a second, Sheridan dismissed the council to reconvene tomorrow. Before he leaves, Londo corners Na’Toth again regarding the missing G’Kar. She says that G’Kar is investigating the destruction of the Narn base in Quadrant 37 in the season one finale “Chrysalis” and is more than capable of taking care of himself.
G’Kar, and several other Narn fighters, are currently fleeing some alien ships who are attacking them. They are trying to make it back to the gate; G’Kar says they can do it, but the others disagree and turn back so that G’Kar can return.
Dr. Franklin corners Sheridan, as he wants to talk. Sheridan has a bit of time before he meets his sister, and agrees, asking about Garibaldi. This is what Franklin wanted to talk about. Garibaldi is not in great condition, and nothing is working to bring him out of his coma. Franklin has one option left, an unauthorised one. The doctor hasn’t been able to contact any next of kin, and fears that waiting longer will mean that even this final option will not work.
What Franklin wants to do is use the alien device that Laura Rosen was using in “The Quality of Mercy”, that transfers life energy from one person to another. He wants permission to use it, and is only willing to risk himself doing so. Sheridan agrees.
Londo is approached by Mr. Morden, as the latter had word that the former was looking for him. Londo says that the destruction of the Narn base is drawing attention. Morden says that that was what was wanted. He assures Londo that the attack will never be traced back to him, and that they will never prove that Londo was behind it. Morden is willing to provide more demonstrations if needed. Londo jokingly suggest the elimination of the entire Narn homeworld; Morden, not joking, says one thing at a time. Morden also wants a small favour. Should Londo hear of anything strange happening out on the Rim, Morden would like to know.
Sheridan’s sister Elizabeth arrives on the station and, even though they haven’t seen each other in two years, he’s talking about work. Not about Anna, his dead wife and Elizabeth’s friend. More is revealed about this during the episode, and there may be something disturbing about Anna’s accidental death. Perhaps the destruction of her ship wasn’t an accident.
When Dr. Franklin is about ready to use the alien device to help Garibaldi, Sheridan turns up and offers to use his life energy whilst Franklin operates the machine, saying it’s too dangerous for Franklin to both operate it and supply energy, as he really doesn’t know how it works. As a compromise, both supply the energy in shifts.
G’Kar is back on Babylon 5 and he isn’t in a cheery frame of mind. He tells Na’Toth that only a major power could have destroyed the Narn base in Quadrant 37. None of the other four, the Vorlons, Minbari, Humans and Centauri, could have done it, which left either a new race or an old one.
A very old one, G’Kar believes. The Narn holy texts reference a great war long ago, with a race that dwelled in the systems on the rim of known space. A war that nearly destroyed everything. So G’Kar went looking and, on dead worlds that have seen no life in a thousand years, he found something stirring again and gathering its forces. G’Kar is worried for everyone. Well, everyone but the Vorlons; he isn’t sure what could threaten them.
The alien machine works and brings Garibaldi out of his coma. He doesn’t remember who shot him, because he was shot in the back, but he intended to find out. He also didn’t know that Sinclair had been reassigned, so this is his first meeting with Sheridan.
Finally, Delenn is also coming out of her cocoon. What emerges may not be expected.
