“The Prince” is episode ten of season two of Andromeda.
The Andromeda Ascendant responds to help a vessel that is under attack by pirates. Only these aren’t regular pirates. On the vessel was the recently deposed king of a planet, his family and his personal guards. The pirates were the nobles who had deposed him.
Only the king, his youngest son and one guard survive. The king has been mortally wounded and, before he dies, appoints Tyr and Dylan as co-regents.
The planet in question is strategically important, being on the slipstream path of the Magog world ship, so the Andromeda goes to see what they can do to stabilise the situation.
There are echoes of King John and the Magna Carta in this episode, although fairly faint ones.
