“Exit Strategies” is episode two of season two of Andromeda.
The Eureka Maru is under attack by Nietzscheans and ends up being forced down onto a frozen planet. Rev Bem is having problems; as atonement for all the Magog he killed in “Turning The Widening Gyre” three weeks ago, he is fasting. Unfortunately, he is now starving to death, and Magog have to kill live food in order to be able to digest it – presumably something designed in them by The Abyss, who created their race – and there is a shortage of live prey on the planet. Namely, the Nietzscheans who have followed them down and his crew members. The Nietzscheans seem to have a bone to pick with Tyr over the events of “Music of a Distant Drum”.
Harper, who is still on the Andromeda Ascendant, is feeling a bit down (as in suicidal) due to his infection with Magog larvae (which will eventually kill him when they ‘birth’ by eating their way out of him), leaving Rommie to try and talk him around.
I’d have thought they would be concentrating on the star-sized construct carrying five trillion Magog they discovered. That would seem to be a fairly major problem, given that it seems the entire Systems Commonwealth at the height of its power didn’t seem to know what to do about it. And the last galaxy it visited is no longer a galaxy.
