“The Witch is Coming” is episode five of season one of Kiss Me First.
In the previous episode, “Friends Let Us Down”, Force, or Kyle, had come to the UK on Adrian’s wishes. He was supposed to take care of Leila for Adrian, and probably killed her former teacher, Mr. Adams, whilst Leila was using something that allowed her to get inside the Azana source code by altering the base algorithm that was supposedly sent her by Ruth Palmer. It may have been, it may not. Kyle had also met up with Jocasta in real life – and discovered she was actually Jack. Given that Jack’s mother came home to find blood on the floor and his avatar was orbiting Azana, Kyle may have taken the revelation that his girlfriend was a boy quite badly.
Adrian had showed Tess what appeared to be her avatar, when Leila was using it, talking to Calumny before he jumped in “She Did Something”. Only that was altered, as it was actually Adrian doing the talking. Leila had also discovered that Adrian was talking to Jonty – honestly, does Adrian always speak before finding out who has actually answered the phone? – and she took it badly. Even though it isn’t what she thinks. Kyle then came and found Leila again, having spoken to her earlier, and told her to come with him, as she had no-one else. Which is certainly true now. Kyle doesn’t appear to want to blindly follow Adrian.
The episode begins with Adrian talking about life and the people encountered in it. How many in total a person will a person encounter in their life. What life would be like were everything wanted possible, to shape life and get everything deserved and to be loved as you should be. There are some more talks like this throughout, on such as the nature of games, how they are no good and what if games had actual meaning.
Leila is travelling in a car with Kyle and Tess is on a boat, arriving at a large house on the water. Tess is greeted by a girl who is waiting for her, Tippy. Tippy says that Adrian is not there yet, and they need to be patient. There is a room prepared for Tess – as Mania – and Tippy says she needs to burn all her possessions, including her money and passport, and to take a pill – red, of course – every day. Adrian has left a message for Tess on an old-fashioned cassette player – which she has to figure out. Near the house is Red Pill – but in real life (and Ruth Palmer had a picture of that in her house).
Leila and Kyle are heading to the house as well, by car. It’s not clear where the house is, but it’s definitely some distance. Kyle also seems a bit less than stable. Leila just wants to take Tess and go, before Adrian kills them all. Tess doesn’t want to leave though.
Some more is learned about Adrian – his past anyway – but he is still only communicating through different devices. Adrian appears to be playing a game, but with real people and real death. This episode is also the first not to have any of it take place in Azana.
Pretty sure that was Jack’s house keeper who found the pool of blood, who commented earlier in that episode that his parents will call him soon. Also I’m sure Adrian intended for Leila to pick up the phone and get hurt. He enjoys pushing people over the edge.
Yes, I wasn’t sure I had got that right about the woman. An you’re probably right about the phone; it did drive a wedge between her and Jonty. What I’m not sure on is if Adrian still exists as an actual physical person.
