Stargate: The Ark of Truth

Stargate: The Ark of Truth is a feature length special of Stargate SG-1.

The end of “Dominion” left a couple of plot strands incomplete which were not resolved due to season ten being the final season. This is straight to DVD movie focussed on one of them, the Ori.

Although it’s been confirmed that Merlin’s weapon destroyed the Ori in “The Shroud”, their forces are still rampaging across the galaxy and more are on the way. Of all the enemies that SG-1 have faced, it’s the Ori that they have never truly come face to face with.

The Ancients, before fleeing the Ori’s galaxy, had built a device called the Ark of Truth which would show the Ori to be false gods to their followers. They never used it, because it was against their principles. Being rather more desperate, SG-1 are looking for it in the ruins of Dakara.

They fail to find it, and have to head to the Ori galaxy, accompanied by a representative of the IOA (I think Mr Woolsey is busy running Atlantis at this point). It turns out the Ori may be dead but Adria, Vala’s daughter, who ascended at the end of “Dominion” has taken their place. The IOA has also come up with the brilliant idea of making Replicators in the Ori galaxy. Brilliant in the ‘dumb idea’ sense.

This is the second time I’ve seen this, but the first time around I hadn’t seen the majority of Stargate SG-1 so much did not make sense. I didn’t know who Mitchell and Vala were, or who Adria or Tomin’ Vala’s husband were, who the Ori were, what Dakara was and why it was ruined.

Watching it again was rather like seeing it for the first time, as I lacked so much information originally about what was what.
